The details are: A promising night of twang with the skilled Uxbridge Chamber Choir accompanying the expert fingers of a Blue Grass trio. This is on the 26th of May and starts at 7pm. Slip on your most uncomfortable cowboy boots and head on over to 4360 Sideline 12(Paddock Road)

I know what you’re thinking..the annual Blue Rodeo the night before in the Sunderland arena..(got my ticket already)..and now this!

We only live once…apparently. So double up for the weekend and show up for the fun and all the work everyone involved wants to pretend they didn’t do.

Morgan's "Hi There" picture

After the Emergency Monologues show, Morgan helped re-direct traffic as we re-stored our tables,chairs,etc. This went on for hours as it always does after a big event. Morgan was rewarded with liquid trophies and left over guacamole. His show was great fun and he tells a story like a honed craftsman. I only got one picture of him sans  props and paraphenalia and it’s such a seedy one…but I’m posting it anyhow!

Today I’m winding down from the first Lady’s Getaway Weekend. Organizer Dixie left with a terrible cough and great memories! The two days were wildly fun! I cooked up a storm to fuel them for their Zumba Rumba.Then Laura came to the rescue with parafin, suds and aromas. Finally, the Cannington Cafe hosted SoHayla who crooned soulful sounds while they dined on more fine food. Mondays are usually pretty slow in this neck of the woods..but recently…

…A fabulous couple stayed over brimming with enthusiasm for their crafts. Danielle and Lorin are innovators and creators! Danielle taught dance at a local school and had the class given’  it all so hard that it could be heard across the street! The kids got down and up! Her dance program is taking schools by storm and they’ve been invited to demo their “getting kids fit” program at a conference in the States hosted my none other than the First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Lorin, on the other hand is leaving for Haiti in a few weeks to start setting up his solar ovens..you have to see these. He is hoping to change the way Haiti cooks their food buy using this mirrored structure, a completely solar device. Lorin’s grandfather invented it!! He is also looking for corporate financing if anyone reading this wants to know. FYI Haiti has less that 15 years left of tree life..and right now everyone is cooking with wood!

And then…

…Well, Eric Larsen just crept up the stairs to his room to give an interview to MSNBC. In another week Eric will be leading an exhibition across the ridges of Antartica, but tonight he’s just hanging by the fireplace and talking about the planet, life’s challenges when you want to cross as many frontiers as a guy like him does and books not to bring when you’re planning on reaching the summit of Everest. He’s got lots of plans..some ordinary, some a little bigger. Check out his You Tube video of his last years’ travels.

On March 16th @ 7pm, Ben Sures will perform his original works.  I’ve listened to The Irrelevant show two weeks in a row on Saturday mornings now and I’ve heard Ben perform both times. Ben is said to be a combination of Lyle Lovett and Jack Jackson which is good enough for me! Should be a great Friday night for all of us!

World traveler Colin Angus and adventure camper Kevin Callan are in our area (and staying at yours truly) for this series. Motivate yourselves to soar above new landscapes and ride the exciting waterways this good earth has to offer. Always a treat to live vicariously for a few short moments.

I’m still grinning as I scroll back to last nights’  Ben Sures show. His wry story telling and expert strummin’  n’ pickin’ got us all tapping the floor. He got all of us showing off our Folk Aerobics! If you’ve never done a folk shake or twirl..you haven’t done folk aerobics! Move over Zumba.

Mermaids and Skies

On another note..the winds are changing! Today, as I rode out to my favorite Alpaca Farm www.salemalpacas.comWhoa! what a  headwind! It’s uphill both ways but owners Kathleen and Irma will hurriedly warm your soul when you finally pull in.It’s a  scenic and farmy landscape. Explorer Eric Larson was here last November 3rd and 4th. He spoke at Flemming College in Lindsay. Eric crossed Antartica, the Artic and climbed Everest..in 2010!
